Latest Mac OS X 10.6.3 beta adds OpenGL 3.0 support

Since the release of Apple’s latest operating system, Snow Leopard (10.6), there have been two main patches. These have both been relatively minor in terms of fixes and changes, though the latest update, 10.6.3, aims to be a bit more substantial when it comes to upgrades.

As discovered by Hardmac forums, the beta of the 10.6.3 update includes OpenGL 3.0 support, bringing many more graphical capabilities to the operating system. As AppleInsider noted, graphics cards found in Mac computers support OpenGL 3.0, so the only step now is to improve the software somewhat; a step being taken in the latest update. So far, 22 out of 23 extensions are now supported, though the majority of the associated OpenGL 3.0-specific functions are yet to have support in 10.6.3.

Backwards compatibility is said to be there in 10.6.3, as one would expect; in addition to that, support for OpenGL 3.1 is at 12 percent, whereas OpenGL 3.2 is a bit further, sitting currently on 33 percent. If you’re a Mac user, the latest update will hopefully become available soon, as Apple seems to be progressing quickly with it.

Fourth generation iPhone to have gesture enabled casing

Bloomberg is reporting that Apple’s upcoming fourth-generation iPhone may have a “touch-sensitive casing.” Much like Apple’s Magic Mouse, the phone’s body may support finger movements for actions such as scrolling, zooming, and other useful navigation. “‘Apple’s going to put a lot of innovation, not just on the hardware, but also on the software of the new iPhone,’ said Taipei-based Chen, a member of Asia’s top-ranked technology hardware research team. The handset will feature a new plastic casing similar to that used for Apple’s touch-panel Magic Mouse released last year, he said.”

Chen also re-affirmed the public that the next iPhone will go into production as early as April, and be available to the general public in June or July. He also hinted at an updated version of the iPhone OS and an overhauled App Store. However, no further details were given.

Assuming Chen is right, Apple has sure held back a lot of juicy details from the public (and we expect nothing less). If the next iPhone does, indeed, have this new body, it would not only make sense, but it would also allude to the fact that AT&T is still a big part of the picture. Just this past week, AT&T announced their upcoming, Android based, Motorola Backflip phone. This is the first phone to have a touch sensitive gesture area built into the body. This would make AT&T the only carrier with, not one, but two gesture body enabled phones. Perhaps this means that the new gesture body was AT&T’s idea. This would further add creditability to Chen’s iPhone claims.

Instead, they appear to curb their own growth - once they accumulate about 10 billion times the mass of the Sun.

Normally Black Holes continue to accumulate mass by absorbing matter from neighboring gas, dust and stars. But according to new research by Priyamvada Natarajan, that it is possible only to a certain limit, irrespective of the position of black hole. The reason behind this is that, "Eventually these Black Holes reach the point when they radiate so much energy as they consume their surroundings that they end up interfering with the very gas supply that feeds them, which may interrupt nearby star formation."

Natarajan used existing Optical and X-ray Data of these Ultra-Massive Black Holes to show that, in order for those various observations to be consistent, the black holes must essentially stop at some point in their evolution. This helped her to prove this fact that these black holes can not grow indefinitely in mass and there is some upper mass limit of black holes.

Let's see if it's any better.

The setup file is around 20 MB, so you'll download it pretty fast if you have a good internet connection. After installing the program you are invited to register, and you must do that if you want to use the program. Well, it better be worth it! With registration and all the installation will take about three minutes.

Does your torrent downloads work properly? Is your µTorrent client downloading stuff at its maximum speed? Have people told you to “forward ports” and you never understand what they mean? Then this is the right article for you! In this post, I’ll explain how to remove the or the signs in the status bar of µTorrent and get the sign.

This guide is mainly for BSNL Broadband (formerly Dataone) users with the UTStarcom UT3000R2U router. The instructions given in this guide may/may not work for other routers. So think before you experiment.

Method I:

1. Point your browser to http://192.168.1.1 (Note: Preferably use another browser, not the one that you are reading this post from)

2. Enter the both User Name and Password as admin and press OK.
You will see something similar to this:

3. Click on Advanced Options in the sidebar and select NAT under it.

4. You will see a field called DMZ Host IP Address:

5. Open Start Menu -> Run. Type cmd and press enter.

6. Type ipconfig /all. You will get something similar to this:

7. Search for your connection in this list and note down its IP Address. In my case, it was 192.168.1.2. Most probably, you will also get the same.

8. Enter this IP Address into the DMZ Host IP Address: field and press Save/Apply.

9. Click on Advanced Setup (Sidebar) and press Save/Reboot. Wait for a minute and connect again.

10. Open µTorrent and try downloading something. If it didn’t work, redo your steps. If still it doesn’t work (very low chances), try Method II.

Method II:

This is a fast and easy method.

1. Repeat first two steps from Method I

2. Click on Advanced Options in the sidebar and press the edit button for your connection. Most probably the first one in the table.

3. Click next for the ATM PVC Configuration.

4. Set the Connection Type to Bridging, leave Encapsulation Mode as LLC/SNAP-BRIDGING and press next.

5. Check Enable Bridge Service: (If unchecked) and press next.

6. Click on Save. Press Save/Reboot. Wait for a minute and connect again.

Congarts! Now their is nothing to prevent µTorrent from getting poor connections!

Yahoo Messenger multiple login

Simply close your messenger if it is On and then follow the following steps :

1. Go to Start --> Run . Type regedit, then enter.

2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_ USER --> Software -->yahoo -->pager-->Test

3. On the right page , right-click and choose new Dword value .

4. Rename it as Plural.

5. Double click and assign a decimal value of 1.

Wow you finished it.
Simply start the messenger and login your account.
once you sign in.
again click on the Yahoo messenger (From wherever you have started it last time)
Voila !!
it gives you another chance to login though you are logged in your first account.
this way you can now log into multiple yahoo accounts.

CHANGE DRIVE LETTERS

To change drive letters (useful if you have two drives and have partitioned the boot drive, but the secondary drive shows up as "D")

Go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management, Disk Management, then right-click the partition whose name you want to change (click in the white area just below the word "Volume") and select "change drive letter and paths."
From here you can add, remove or change drive letters and paths to the partition

HOW TO DOWNLOAD FROM TORRENT

1. Find a torrent program that will suit your needs,most commonly used is uTorrent

2. Follow the instructions on downloading and installing the said client.

3. Go to a torrent site and search for a file you want to download Some of the torrent sites are www.torrentz.com, www.isohunt.com, www.torrentpond.com.

4. Once you have found the desired file on the torrent site, click the "Download This Torrent" (or however they word it). Usually, the web browser's file download manager will ask what to do with this file. You want to open the file with your torrent program.

5. If it doesn't open that way, just save the .Torrent file to an easy to locate place. Then open your torrent client and use the "Open Torrent" feature.

6. The download will start automatically. You may now go and do something to pass the time, because torrents do not require much intervention on your part.

7. After the file is downloaded, leave it open in the program to share with other people who are also trying to get the same file out of respect. This way the P2P community stays alive.

Tips

If the download isn't complete when you need to turn the PC off, just exit your torrent client and turn off the PC. Most torrent programs start the download process automatically when you restart them. If not, then there should be an option to start downloading, by either right clicking on the file and choose "Start" or a button somewhere in the program.
There are other torrent clients (programs) that can be used, do research these also. The most popular torrent programs are uTorrent and Azureus.
When looking for torrent files, try to find ones with plenty of Seeders.
Seeders: People who have file complete and are sharing.
Leechers: People who are downloading and have some of the file for sharing, but not all of it.
Torrents are an excellent way to get the latest games, movies,softwares or music.

Speed up your browsing of Windows 2000 & XP machines

Here's a great tip to speed up your browsing of Windows XP machines. Its actually a fix to a bug installed as default in Windows 2000 that scans shared files for Scheduled Tasks. And it turns out that you can experience a delay as long as 30 seconds when you try to view shared files across a network because Windows 2000 is using the extra time to search the remote computer for any Scheduled Tasks. Note that though the fix is originally intended for only those affected, Windows 2000 users will experience that the actual browsing speed of both the Internet & Windows Explorers improve significantly after applying it since it doesn't search for Scheduled Tasks anymore. Here's how :

Open up the Registry and go to :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/RemoteComputer/NameSpace

Under that branch, select the key :

{D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}

and delete it.

This is key that instructs Windows to search for Scheduled Tasks. If you like you may want to export the exact branch so that you can restore the key if necessary.

This fix is so effective that it doesn't require a reboot and you can almost immediately determine yourself how much it speeds up your browsing processes.
